Vacuum cleaner drawings
I enjoy drawing objects with a contrast of shapes. These two vacuum cleaners are good examples of such objects and are the some of the larger objects I have drawn. I want to draw objects as close to their actual size as possible, in an effort to place them literally in front of the viewer.
As much as possible I like to take into account the act of viewing, just as I when I stood in front of the work of Van Gough when I was a teenager and felt that I was standing just where Van Gough had stood when he observed and been in the presence of everyday objects, I feel I have achieved greatest success with my drawing when the viewer really gets a feeling for the object itself and that the subsequent drawing has relayed something of the personality of the object or perhaps a personality that I have interpreted through the drawing.
