"Number Banners are palette board constructions, numbered zero to nine. Number Banners are practical objects; tools used to represent people, objects or different elements of situations. They are made of pallette board and are numbered 0 - 9. The continual use of numbered banners has meant that they have become incresingly important, they are now objects, people or elements in their own right. With the aid of cardboard arrows these tools can be made more animate, they can begin to exist for a non-practical, more selfish purpose, they exist for their own reasons, they are not now only dependent on the artist.
Number banners are here to be used, like tools, it must be remembered that they can be highly representational objects and can cry out for a meaning to be imposed upon them, elements of which can be influenced by the banners situations spinning, twisting, splitting and moving forward.
As well as these narrative uses number banners can be allowed to 'live' via the introduction of restrictive laws and circumsatances."
