Sculpture: Number 0 Banner

Number banners have been used to explore issues of time and motion. Their dynamic qualities are shown to their greatest extent when they are used in conjunction with cardboard arrows.
Number Banners do not just act as dynamic tools; they have a personalities of their own. Below is a description of Number Zero Banner, which was shown alongside the Number Nine Banner sculpture.

"Number Zero Banner:
- represents nothing.
This banner can be introduced into a number banner situation without intrusion or increasing the numeric value of a banner sequence, yet, at the same time, Number banner Zero can symbolise everything. Since Zero is not a number tool this tool has an anonymity that is unique among the banners; a lack of numeric value can provide a depth to banner setups that no other banner can provide. Number Zero banner is a completely free tool, although it's value is nothing. The banner has no physical presence, the absence of a Number value could make this banner seem useless in a Number banner set-up, but in practice nothing could be further from the truth. Zero banner can act as an anchor or imaginary element within a banner situation. It often seems that Number Zero banner is from another place to the other banners; it is not tied down by a numeric value, it does not have the same function as the other banners, it does not have an obvious relationship or connection with any other number banner. A part of the Zero banner is missing, this does not affect the impact and authority of the number banner, it's ability to have withstood physical abuse adds to it's unique qualities and personality. This tool represents, is a very physical form, something indefinable. Zero's value is something infinite and at the same time it is nothing. Number Zero Banner is a special tool.

Diagrammatic Number Three Banner:

Computers were used to create diagram-style images of the number banners.
Diagrammatic Number Banners were created to embody the physical nature of the Number Banners.
Similar to Animate Objects the use of 2D laws are utilised to invoke the spirit of these objects - with the laws of Orthographic projection and similar technical drawing styles
.
Six views are shown; front, back, left-side, right-side, top and bottom (six dimensions).
This is a form of orthographic projection, commonly used to describe objects before they are constructed in a workshop. This type of drawing describes the entire object and pertains to representing the real object to the point of standing in for the real object's absence.
