Installations

Drawings of the Dismantling of a football.
Dismantling of a football. Oil pastel drawings on cartridge paper on cardboard.

Some of my drawings end up becoming more like objects: three-dimensional.
I sometimes like to try and bring objects to life, to incorporate some of their physical aspects into the drawings.
Using disposable, cheap materials like cardboard, palette board and poster paint, I’ve made my own objects (see number banners) and sometimes animated life into them.

Bringing the idea of installation and drawings together I try to use the thee-dimensional qualities of cardboard to bring drawings to life.

Summary

I’m a London-born visual artist, who’s exhibited in solo and group shows in the UK and overseas.
Drawing dominates my artwork. I produce framed work and wall-sized installations.
I’ve created a strong visual style, which I use to represent objects. By cutting-out the drawings, often on coloured and patterned papers, I introduce a physical aspect, which builds up visual depth and dynamic movement.

Statement

Creating drawings of objects with a strong 3D effect, my artwork focuses on exposing aspects of who we are and our society’s priorities, with strong visual effect.
By drawing simple lines with oil pastels I juxtapose the modern visual language of graphics with the traditional Fine art medium of oils.
Objects are under-appreciated; I’m helping them fight back. It’s an uprising of downtrodden, overlooked items, from within and without our materialistic consumer world.

I deal with the value of objects, what they mean to us, their personalities and how they can have power over us.
